The museum occupies Ajman's 18th-century fort, which served in turn as a stronghold, the ruler's residence and a police station. Displays cover archaeology, traditional weapons and manuscripts, reconstructed houses, a market and crafts, plus a room of historic seals and documents. The courtyard has wind towers and old cannons. A calm museum, an hour to ninety minutes, and air-conditioned.
Tips
On Fridays it opens only in the afternoon. The air conditioning makes it comfortable in the heat. Children below a certain age usually enter free — check at the desk.
