The Jebel Maleihah ridge by Mleiha (Sharjah), a former seabed. Its slopes hold 80-million-year-old fossils — sea urchins, ammonites, molluscs, sharks. The dunes around it are the country's go-to off-road and sunset-photo spot. Free, 60 min from central Dubai. Part of UNESCO's tentative list (Mleiha cultural landscape).
Tips
A 4×4 is required to reach the base — sedans park further and walk in. Best 1 hour before sunset (18:30 winter / 19:00 summer). 30 min walk to the summit; wear trainers. Combine with the Mleiha Archaeological Centre (10 min) and Arabia's Wildlife Centre (25 min).
