The museum occupies the Al Qasimi fort in the old town, the ruling family's residence until 1964. Displays cover regional archaeology from the Stone Age, the Islamic period, the traditional pearling trade, weapons, documents and ethnography. The courtyard, with cannons, wind towers and old carved doors, is worth wandering even without the labels. A compact museum, an hour to ninety minutes.
Tips
Closed Mondays; on Fridays it opens only in the afternoon. Mornings are cooler for the open courtyard. The old souk and the Corniche are nearby.
