Dubai Mall guide 2026: what's inside, how to navigate, what not to miss
The world's largest mall is more than shopping — aquarium, fountains, rides, food across 4 levels. Here's how to do it in a day.
In short
Dubai Mall is 1200+ stores across 502,000 m², plus an aquarium, ice rink, attractions and a 200-concept food court. You can't see everything in one visit — pick 1-2 targets and move with the map.
Getting there
- Red Line metro — Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station, then 800 m through an air-conditioned travelator (~10 min)
- Taxi/Careem — drop off at Star Atrium (main entrance) or Cinema Atrium
- Parking — 14,000 spaces, free for first 4 hours. P9 is closest to Fashion Avenue
Must-see
Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo — 10-metre glass tunnel, 33,000 sea animals including a 5-metre tiger shark. Free to view from outside, 199 AED+ to enter.
Dubai Fountains — every 30 minutes from 18:00 to 23:00 at Burj Khalifa lake. Free. Best viewpoint: Souk Bridge on level 1.
Burj Khalifa At The Top — fastest lift, level 124 in 60 seconds. From 175 AED, Sky Lounge VIP from 700 AED.
Shopping by floor
- Ground — masstige (Zara, H&M, Sephora), Aquarium, Souk
- 1st — middle-luxury (Coach, Michael Kors, Furla), Fashion Avenue with Chanel/Dior/Hermès
- 2nd — premium electronics, Apple Store, sports, Carrefour
- 3rd — VOX Cinemas (26 screens), Magic Planet, food court
Souk: an «Arabian bazaar» inside the mall
Indoor market in oriental style — gold, perfume, textiles, spices. Prices are 2-3× higher than at Old Gold Souk in Deira. Good for atmosphere and photos, not for actual buying. About 60 stores.
Where to eat
- Fountain Views — restaurants overlooking the fountains: Bake & Bean, Eataly, Cheesecake Factory. Book a week ahead for dinner
- Fashion Avenue Café — Joe & The Juice, % Arabica, Magnolia Bakery. Coffee break after shopping
- Eataly — Italian market-restaurant, 4 concepts in one space
- Level 3 food court — 35 concepts from 30 AED, average bill 60-90 AED
Family attractions
- KidZania — 80+ professions for ages 4-14, 220 AED
- Dubai Ice Rink — Olympic-size, 100 AED with rentals
- VR Park — 16 VR attractions, from 95 AED
- Hysteria — year-round Halloween experience, 18+
Tips
- Download Dubai Mall app — built-in navigation map, discounts, parking validator
- Go against the flow — most people enter via Star Atrium and Souk. Enter via Cinema Atrium from the metro side — much quieter
- Sales — Dubai Shopping Festival (January) and Eid Al Fitr — up to 75% off in flagship stores
- VAT refund — tourists get 5% VAT back on purchases above 250 AED. Planet Tax Free counters on every level
What not to do
- Don't visit the Aquarium on Saturday after 14:00 — local families, 40+ min queue. Weekdays before 14:00 are best
- Don't try to do the whole mall in 2 hours — impossible, you'll burn out
- Don't buy gold in Souk without checking hallmarks — real gold is at Deira Gold Souk
Hours
Mon-Thu: 10:00-00:00, Fri-Sun: 10:00-01:00. During Ramadan, evening hours start an hour later.
