Best Photo Spots in Dubai: 12 Proven Locations for 2026
From sunrise at Burj Khalifa to Marina at night — where to shoot a magazine-cover frame without the crowds, free or on a tiny budget.
TL;DR
Dubai is photogenic almost everywhere, but 90% of Instagram frames happen at just a dozen spots. Below are 12 places in order from most famous to least obvious, each with the time of day for the best light.
1. Burj Khalifa from Sky Views Bridge
When: sunrise (5:30–6:30 in May–July, 6:30–7:30 in December–February). Spot: Sky Views Observatory, or just the bridge above D88. Shot: Burj vertically with shadow on the facade, no crowds yet, no sun in frame. Cost: bridge access 0 AED, Sky Views 175 AED.
2. Dubai Marina from the pedestrian bridge
When: golden hour (40 minutes before sunset). Spot: the bridge facing Address Marina, or near Cayan Tower. Shot: yachts in the foreground, skyscrapers in the background, water reflection. Cost: 0 AED.
3. Old Dubai: Al Fahidi and Bastakiya
When: morning after 9, light but not yet brutal. Shot: wind towers, sandy walls, carpet and brass textures. Bonus: Arabian Tea House café — courtyard with hand-painted ceramics, perfect food flat-lay.
4. Madinat Jumeirah
When: sunset, when Burj Al Arab is backlit. Spot: the bridge over the canal at Al Qasr. Shot: Burj Al Arab + traditional wind towers in one frame. Cost: 0 AED, free access for guests and restaurant visitors.
5. Museum of the Future
When: any time — the facade is equally good in any light. Shot: the ring of Arabic calligraphy in focus, reflections in the glass towers around. Tip: the angle near Emirates Towers metro gives the best perspective.
6. Palm Jumeirah from a drone
When: an hour after sunrise. Drone: only with a GCAA permit. Without it, confiscation and a fine. Alternative: SkyView Observatory at The Pointe — from there you see the whole Palm in your palm.
7. Dubai Frame from inside
When: 15:00–16:00 — sun through the glass, golden shadows. Spot: on the glass floor at the top — a shot of the city literally under your feet. Cost: 50 AED.
8. La Mer and Jumeirah Beach
When: early morning or sunset. Shot: street art, colourful café walls, sand on your feet with Burj Al Arab on the horizon.
9. Global Village (winter only)
When: after sunset, when the lights come on. Shot: pavilions of different countries, fireworks on Wednesdays.
10. Dubai Mall — Aquarium and Fountain
When: Aquarium all day, Fountain after 18:00 (a show every 30 minutes). Shot: silhouettes against the fountain, Burj Khalifa above the fountain vertically.
11. Hatta — mountains and reservoir
When: sunset, when the water turns emerald. Spot: Hatta Dam viewpoint, 1.5 hours from Dubai. Bonus: kayak in the foreground = a frame that doesn't look like Dubai at all.
12. Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque (Abu Dhabi)
When: sunset (our pick) or blue hour right after. Dress code: long sleeves, long skirt/trousers. Free abayas at the entrance. Cost: 0 AED.
What to avoid
- Do not photograph people without permission — especially women and families. Up to AED 500,000 fine under the new privacy law.
- No military sites, airports, bridges, palaces.
- No drone without GCAA permit — confiscation, fine, sometimes a criminal case.
Gear
- Camera/phone — a modern smartphone is enough in 80% of cases.
- Tripod — for blue hour and the fountain. Compact, fits in a backpack.
- ND filter — for long exposure on water.
- Water bottle — mandatory, especially June through September.
