Legal registration
4 paths to legalise marriage:
- Civil Marriage at Dubai Courts (Personal Status Court) — open to all nationalities. Documents apostilled and translated into Arabic. 1-2 working days. ~1500 AED. Easiest path for non-Muslims.
- Embassy Marriage — at your home-country embassy (if registered with UAE MOFA). Russia and Uzbekistan: yes. Need single-status certificate + passports. 2-3 weeks.
- Notary Public Marriage — for civil partnership contracts when both are married elsewhere. Confirms partner status for visa/property purposes.
- Religious Marriage — for Muslims via Sharia Court. Need min 1 Muslim husband, 2 witnesses, mahr (bridal gift).
Guest visas
Russian and most CIS citizens get a free 90-day entry stamp on arrival. Resident visa via invitation from UAE family is a separate 1-2 month process.

What won't work
- Alcohol on public beach or in public spaces — illegal. Only at licensed venues (hotels, private villas with permits)
- Public kissing — technically under public-decency law. At a private venue — fine
- Same-sex marriage — not recognised. You can hold a symbolic ceremony, but it has no legal weight
- Mixed dance floor — Islamic venues may request separation
