In short

Dubai also has a calm, restorative side: hammams, world-class spas, wellness retreats and a fitness culture. It is a year-round (often indoor) format that balances an active program well and saves you in the heat. Below, what to pick.

Hammam, a tradition

The oriental hammam, a ritual of steam, scrub and foam, is a must-try in Dubai. The best are in hotels (Talise Ottoman Spa, One&Only) and authentic city ones. A 60-90 minute session relaxes deeply. Perfect after the desert or a long flight. Book ahead; women's and men's hours are separate.

Top spas

Premium spas in Burj Al Arab, Atlantis, Bvlgari, One&Only: treatments, pools, thermal zones. City day-spas are more affordable and need no stay. Ask about a day pass with pool and sauna access. Many offer couples' packages.

Wellness retreats

Out of town, wellness resorts and natural spots: Khatt Springs hot springs (Ras Al Khaimah), the Al Zorah reserve, desert retreats. Yoga retreats, detox programs and meditation are growing. This is a mini-break to reset, for 1-2 nights.

Fitness and yoga

Yoga and pilates studios across the city, many with classes in English and Russian. Morning beach yoga (Kite Beach, JBR). Running paths along Marina and the Creek. Hotel gyms are usually excellent. In summer, everything in air-conditioned spaces.

Practical

  • Book spas a few days ahead, top slots go fast.
  • For hammam and spa, arrive 30 minutes early to use the zones.
  • Tips, 10-15 percent if not included.
  • A day pass is often better value than a single treatment.
  • After the desert or diving, a spa restores beautifully.
