A short trip or a long weekend: how to fit the highlights into 48–72 hours, what to book ahead, and where to stay so you do not lose time in traffic.
The short version
In a weekend you can genuinely see Dubai's highlights: the Downtown skyscrapers, the old town, the beach and the desert. The key to a short trip is staying central (Downtown or Marina), moving by metro and taxi, and booking Burj Khalifa and a desert safari ahead to skip the queues. Day 1, modern Dubai
- Morning: Burj Khalifa At The Top, book a sunset slot in advance.

Day 2, contrasts and the desert

A central base saves an hour or two a day in traffic, which matters on a short trip.
